Koren Carbuccia, BA, Certified Community Health Worker Supervisor, Certified Perinatal Doula

Koren Carbuccia is a seasoned community health advocate with nearly two decades of

experience dedicated to advancing health equity and empowering underserved communities. As

the Co-Director of the Interdisciplinary Navigation Partnership Program at the Warren Alpert

Medical School, she develops innovative programs that bridge healthcare and social support

systems, with a particular focus on prison reentry services, BIPOC whole healthcare, and

perinatal and postpartum mental health. Her expertise extends to addressing anxiety disorders

and other complex challenges, ensuring holistic, person-centered care for individuals navigating

difficult life transitions.

Koren is the Founder and CEO of Rhode Island Community Health Works, an organization

committed to empowering independent community health workers (CHWs) with training,

resources, and technical support. Her leadership has made the organization a cornerstone for

workforce development in Rhode Island, emphasizing civic engagement, cultural competency,

and the development of small business skills to help CHWs thrive professionally.

As a Certified Perinatal Doula, Koren offers compassionate, community-centered services

tailored to justice-involved families, including those impacted by incarceration, reentry, and

DCYF involvement. Her work centers on providing culturally responsive care that uplifts families

during critical moments.

Koren’s lived experiences fuel her passion for building inclusive, equitable healthcare systems.

With authenticity, empathy, and a strategic vision, she inspires others to reimagine community

health as a foundation for sustainable, accessible, and equitable care. Her leadership is a
